Arts Centre Taking Shape

3-Apr-2017 | Drouin

Construction of a performing arts centre at our Drouin campus is underway, with completion anticipated by mid-2018. The centre will include a 388-seat theatre, large stage and orchestra pit, and learning areas for music, drama and dance.

Drama and theatre studies teacher, Michael Gaylard, said: ‘Chairo has an excellent reputation for being a school that excels in the Arts. Many people will be familiar with the high-quality musical productions that we present each year, including The Sound of Music in 2016. Having this new facility at the school will be an amazing opportunity and privilege, and will benefit many students and community members for years to come.’

Planning for the performing arts centre commenced several years ago and the Business Manager, Bryan Lewis, explained: ‘We’re very pleased that this exciting project has finally commenced and the building is now starting to take shape. The centre will be a wonderful facility for the school but also for the wider local community. Interested community group who may wish to use the centre in the future are welcome to lodge expressions of interest with the school finance department.’
