Chairo Christian School is a growing non-denominational Christian school, with over 1,500 Kinder to Year 12 students attending four picturesque campuses in Gippsland and the south eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

We currently have casual vacancies for a Receptionist/Administrator at our Drouin and/or Pakenham campuses. The Receptionist/Administrator will assist in attending to all aspects of a front office reception, as well as providing support for a range of general office administration tasks. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring that all visitors are welcomed in a warm, friendly and professional manner.

General administrative duties will include tasks such as:

  • Professionally managing incoming telephone calls
  • Dealing with visitor, parent, student or staff queries and requests
  • Attending to the receipt and distribution of mail (internal and external)
  • Assisting with providing first aid for students when required
  • Providing assistance with special events (e.g. parent/teacher interviews, open days)

Having obtained relevant experience in office administration, the successful candidate will also possess the following important characteristics:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the school’s Articles of Faith
  • Qualifications in office administration (desirable)
  • Friendly and professional demeanour
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • High standard of computer literacy including MS Word and Excel
  • Be able to provide satisfactory Police and Working with Children checks

Jo, Pakenham Teacher Librarian

‘I enjoy working at Chairo because of the students. I’m challenged daily to set a godly example for them and to reflect about how and why I teach … and to always give my absolute best. I love working alongside committed and dedicated staff members who inspire me every day.’

Jo began working at Chairo in 1997 as a teacher’s assistant. Encouraged by the Principal to study education, Jo became a Chairo primary teacher in 2004 and taught at the Drouin and Drouin East campuses. Today, Jo works in the library at Pakenham and is ‘the most happily contented teacher librarian on the planet’.

Jo explained, ‘I’m passionate about exciting students about books and literature. I also oversee the running of the library; work with teachers on curriculum; order, shelve and critique books; supervise private study and distance education students; make displays; run competitions and oversee Book Week. I’m also studying to complete a Master’s degree’
