Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with over 1,700 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

We are seeking the services of a dedicated Canteen Assistant to join the team at our Drouin campus. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a caring Christian environment by providing assistance to the Canteen Coordinator in delivering a friendly and efficient canteen service at the campus.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • assisting the Canteen Coordinator with the provision of the canteen service through friendly service of students and staff members attending the canteen;
  • assisting with the preparation of food for sale through the canteen in accordance with the school’s food safety standards;
  • cleaning and organising the canteen and equipment as may be required; and
  • assisting with canteen money-management in accordance with school policy.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the school’s Statement of Faith
  • Food handling certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experience in food preparation or kitchen management (desirable)
  • Ability to relate to students and staff members in a caring, friendly and helpful manner

Rebecca, Pakenham Teacher

I studied a Bachelor of Science and then went on to complete a Master of Teaching, inspired to provide early-intervention to students in lower primary and share a love of science amongst primary students. I have taught a Years 1–2 class, DigiTech and a Year 4 class in my first three years at Chairo and have found great joy in being able to share my love of science and technology with students.

I love working at Chairo because I get to see students learn in an environment where they are cared for holistically. I love being able to teach students about the world that God has made, but also about the God who has made everything, including them! I also enjoy teaching students in a variety of ways in order to pique their interests and love of learning.

I'm passionate about supporting students to become enthusiastic about learning, growing and challenging themselves to discover more about God and his world. I especially love to teach Science, demonstrating to students that the subject isn't a scary, impossible idea, but in fact a subject where we uncover the brilliance and wonder in what God has made.
