Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with 1,700 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south eastern outskirts of Melbourne. 

Our mission is to provide excellence in Christ-centred education in partnership with families within a caring Christian community. In doing this, we aim to prepare students thoroughly for further study, careers, service and life in general.

We are currently seeking the services of dedicated Learning Support Assistants to be available on a casual basis to assist the Learning Support team at any of our campuses. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a caring Christian environment and provide important assistance to the students and teaching staff in delivering high-quality care and Christian education to students requiring support for their specific learning needs.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • providing a godly example to students and fellow staff members through their practice, manner, relationships and general lifestyle;
  • liaising with subject teachers about students and curriculum requirements;
  • providing assistance to students with special needs in the classroom and in private study, as well as exam or testing situations;
  • maintaining appropriate records with regard to learning support activities and programs;
  • attending camps and excursions with students if required;
  • preparing resources to support student learning;
  • providing general support to teachers in the classroom; and
  • providing feedback to the classroom teacher with regard to a student’s academic and social progress.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A demonstrated commitment to the school’s Articles of Faith
  • Qualifications and experience in education support or related fields (desirable)
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Rebecca, Pakenham Teacher

I studied a Bachelor of Science and then went on to complete a Master of Teaching, inspired to provide early-intervention to students in lower primary and share a love of science amongst primary students. I have taught a Years 1–2 class, DigiTech and a Year 4 class in my first three years at Chairo and have found great joy in being able to share my love of science and technology with students.

I love working at Chairo because I get to see students learn in an environment where they are cared for holistically. I love being able to teach students about the world that God has made, but also about the God who has made everything, including them! I also enjoy teaching students in a variety of ways in order to pique their interests and love of learning.

I'm passionate about supporting students to become enthusiastic about learning, growing and challenging themselves to discover more about God and his world. I especially love to teach Science, demonstrating to students that the subject isn't a scary, impossible idea, but in fact a subject where we uncover the brilliance and wonder in what God has made.
