For Chairo Drouin's Year 8 students, their Humanities focus on Ancient History - more specifically Medieval Europe - came alive! In week two of this term, students traveled back to medieval times through participation in an incursion, hosted by Melbourne company History Up Close.
Students immersed themselves in medieval culture, learning about various societal roles and practices, dressed up in clothing and armor of the era, and wielded weapons in a staged mock battle to finish the day.
The incursion was a wonderful opportunity to engage student's interests and launch this new unit of study. They now look forward to building on their learning each week and concluding the term, in full costume and character, with Chairo's famous medieval battle and feast.
